Description

Colored Patriot was published by Patriot Publishing Company, weekly in Cincinnati, Ohio. It claimed, "The Patriot is the only Colored Republican paper published or printed in Cincinnati," with a motto: "A paper in accord with the political sentiment of the Colored people.” Its editors were George E. Cowley, Frank B. Kinney, J.M. Lewis, Charles Henson, and Phil Miller. One extant copy is Vol. 1, no. 1, On September 8, 1883. The ending date is unclear. This newspaper politically contrasted with the Afro-American, representing the diversity within Black communities.
